Christmas Party at Schunk with DJ Brian Pate

On Friday December 14, 2012, I had the pleasure of playing for the Schunk Christmas party at the Embassy Suites Brier Creek in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Once again the Embassy Suites provided top notch service from Jill as the advance planning paid off.  With her help as well as that of Elizabeth, our contact at Schunk, we were well prepared upon our arrival.

A great meal including perfectly cooked steaks greeted the guests followed by a fantastic dessert buffet.  Following dinner, we cranked up the music with a variety of hits from the last 40 years and then slid into more contemporary music as the party really began to kick.

This was the second year in a row we have played for this group so referring to our request list and play list from last year helped us to know what to expect.  It always helps when you save your notes when performing for the same crowd that you have previously played for.

Gig Log 1/29/2011- Koinonia Foundation

Koinonia Dinner and Auction a Success!

Brian Pate Entertainment provided sound for the annual Koinonia Foundation Dinner and Auction for the 10th year in a row tonight.  It was once again a great success!

Silent auctions are dangerous for me because I can always find something I want!  Tonight was no exception as I purchased a pair of tickets to the Florida State @ NC State basketball game in March (for those of you who don’t know, I am a HUGE Florida State fan).

Whitt helped me pack up everything along with some help from some members of the Wake Forest fire department.

All totaled, over $61,000 was raised in the event so it was a wonderful night.  Watching the outpouring of love from the audience as they bid on the many items.

Congratulations to the organizers on another successful event and thank you for having us again this year.  We will see you for the event in 2012!

Working in the studio tonight

Sitting her preparing for upcoming shows in January while listening to some old school music from the 90′s including The Movement- “Jump”

I used to play this song at peak time every night for about six weeks. It comes in at 132 BPM and drops to 90 in the middle of the song.  The syncopated rhythm made this one a little tough to mix with a straight tempo song but with some practice, I was able to learn to make it work.
